blingthing.org Announces First Annual Celebrity Jewelry Auction

LOS ANGELES - On Thursday, September 25, 2008, the best of Tinseltown will gather at Hotel Bel-Air for the first annual blingthing.org Celebrity Jewelry Auction to raise money for scholarships to youths pursuing an education in the arts. Auction attendees will have the exclusive opportunity to bid on a selection of jewelry donated by celebrities from their own personal collections, while guests to the VIP after party will mingle with the stars.

blingthing.org is an organization founded on the premise that all children deserve an education in the Arts. In a scholastic culture quick to cut Fine Arts curricula in the face of budget shortfalls, the organization strives to create a world in which no child is prevented from pursuing their dreams in the Arts due to unaffordable tuition.

“The response we’ve had to this event has been enormous and we are so grateful, but even more celebrity participation is needed. Proceeds of the event will fund countless scholarships across the nation for children who want an education in the Arts but can’t afford the opportunity,” said Mike Sheehan, President of blingthing.org.

Celebrity invitees include Jennifer Aniston, Victoria Beckham, Jim Carrey, Tom Cruise, Celine Dion, Harrison Ford, Katie Holmes, Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Steve Martin, Paul McCartney, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Will Smith, Britney Spears, Steven Spielberg, Barbara Walters, Denzel Washington, Oprah Winfrey and many others.

Tickets to the Auction and Reception are $250 per person. To be included in the VIP Celebrity After Party a $1,000 minimum ticket purchase is required. Advance reservations are necessary. Visit www.blingthing.org for more information and to purchase tickets.

Situated in beautiful Bel-Air, adjacent to Beverly Hills, the hotel’s 91 rooms and suites are decorated with a distinct individual personality. In 2007, Hotel Bel-Air received the coveted Mobil Five Star Award and was deemed the “#1 Hotel in the US” by Global Traveler Magazine and “#1 Restaurant, Service” by Zagat Guide. For accommodations during the time of the event please contact the hotel directly at 310.472.1211 or 1.800.648.4097, or visit www.hotelbelair.com.
