Dan Morphy Auctions Unveils Web Site With Live Bidding

Recognizing the premium today’s collectors, dealers and estate officers place on time, Dan Morphy Auctions’ tech team has redeveloped the company’s Web site from the ground up to create an all-inclusive destination integrating dozens of antiques and auction-related services and resources.

Retaining the existing address of www.morphyauctions.com, the colorful new site creates a one-stop environment for visitors that both informs and entertains, said Dan Morphy Auctions’ general manager, Kris Lee.

“The redesigned site retains all the previous features but also incorporates many fresh, new areas of interest to collectors and auction participants,” said Lee. “Under one banner, visitors can access our archive of prices realized and press releases from past sales, view our current auction catalog and sign up to bid, read about and view highlights from top collections in our current sale, and take randomly generated sneak peeks at key lots from future sales.”

The site also introduces the reader to Morphy’s rapidly expanding staff and the hand-picked team of independent experts that catalogs merchandise for the company’s auctions. “I’m extremely proud of our experts,” said Morphy Auctions’ owner, Dan Morphy. All are highly respected authorities in their particular fields. On the site, visitors can read in-depth bios about each expert. This gives a sense of security to those who may never have sold at auction before but are thinking about consigning to Morphy’s.”

At the core of the new Web site is the recently launched Morphy Club online collector community, which costs nothing to join. Morphy Club members receive numerous benefits: special e-newsletters, advance press release information, discounts on auction catalog subscriptions, personally customized e-mail subscriptions, and discounts on area hotels when they choose to attend any of the company’s auction in person.

Interfacing with the Morphy Club is Morphy Live, a new, custom-built Internet live-bidding applet for use by club members. “Those who use the Morphy Live applet to bid online will pay exactly the same buyer’s premium as everyone else,” said Kris Lee. “We see that as quite a significant reason to sign up as a Morphy Club member.”

Lee said the new site has been organized so that a visitor uses the same log-in name and password throughout the site and for all purposes, including bidding in auctions.
