The first social auction - auctions meet twitter, facebook and blogging

I was chatting with some entrepreneurs lately that are active in the social space and we got to brainstorming some concepts about the intersection of ecommerce and social media.

It occured to me that auctions+twitter+social are a great possible marriage.

eBay vs. Amazon in the Twitterverse

I was doing some research into Twitter-apps and found a neat one that lets you trend mentions of various topics over time and even compare two.  It was interesting to see Amazon mentioned nearly 2x over eBay on twitter.

Has eBay lost it’s place in the heart of America?  Is Amazon being discussed because of their web services and there’s a geek-skew to Twitter?  Is this app just plain wrong?
